With communication hubs on three continents, the Federal Foreign Office contributes to conveying a modern image of Germany based on facts, also on social media, and provides information on the priorities and values of Germany’s foreign policy.

We want to enable people around the world to take part in German foreign policy, to make the goals and motives of our foreign policy understandable and to spotlight and defend our values, ideas and interests, also through active communication on social media.

To this end, Germany has five communication hubs around the world – the Regional German Information Centres. In Dakar for francophone Africa, in Cairo for the Arabic-speaking world, in Pretoria for anglophone Africa, in Mexico for Spanish-speaking Latin America and in Singapore for South-East Asia and the Indo-Pacific.

The Regional German Information Centres provide German embassies and consulates in the regions in question with communication materials for their social media channels which is tailored to the local languages, debates and links to Germany. Not least, they help to tackle the disinformation spread on social media.

The Centres also use their own channels to inform people about the priorities of German foreign policy and to convey a modern image of Germany based on facts. Just under 3.8 million people follow the five German Information Centres on their channels and millions more are reached via the social media channels of individual missions abroad.
