NATO is a central pillar of Germany’s security and defence policy. With 32 members today, NATO guarantees security and stability in the Euro-Atlantic area. The Alliance’s newest member is Sweden, which joined on 7 March 2024. In 2024, NATO is celebrating its 75th anniversary.
