Foreign Minister Steinmeier and Peru’s Foreign Minister Gutiérrez condemn Copenhagen attack
On the fringes of his talks in Lima, Foreign Minister Steinmeier issued the following statement concerning the attack on a free speech conference in Copenhagen on 14 February:
We are appalled by the news reaching us from Copenhagen. This attack was clearly aimed at those standing up for freedom. My colleague Gonzalo Gutiérrez and I condemn this attack in the strongest possible terms. The international community and all its states will not give in to this kind of terrorism.
Together, we are standing up for freedom of expression and art. We will do our utmost to defend it and protect it for our citizens.
