Federal Foreign Office on reports of the testing of a ballistic missile by North Korea
A Federal Foreign Office Spokesperson issued the following statement today (28 February) on reports of the testing of a ballistic missile by North Korea on 27 February:
Germany vehemently condemns the latest test of a ballistic missile by North Korea. With its series of ballistic missile tests, North Korea is once again flagrantly breaching relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions, is heightening tensions in the region in an irresponsible manner and is attacking the rules-based international order at a time when it is most profoundly threatened.
We call on North Korea to implement the decisions of the Security Council in full and to accept the repeated offers of dialogue put forward by the United States and South Korea. North Korea is bound to the complete, verifiable and irreversible ending of its programmes to develop weapons of mass destruction and ballistic missiles. The Federal Government and its partners are committed to the goal of peace on the Korean peninsula and to upholding the rules-based international order.
