Federal Foreign Office statement on the latest developments in Niger
A Federal Foreign Office Spokesperson today (27 July) issued the following statement on the latest developments in Niger:
We are following events in Niger with great concern. We condemn the attempt by parts of the military to overturn Niger’s constitutional, democratic order. We call on these individuals to immediately release Bazoum, the country’s democratically elected President, and to return to their quarters. We fully support the respective efforts of the African Union and the regional organisation ECOWAS. Violence must not be used for one’s political or personal gain.
German citizens are requested to follow the Federal Foreign Office’s travel and security advice and to enter their personal information in the register for emergency contact ELEFAND.
