Welcome
Minister of State Lindner prior to his departure for Jordan
Prior to his departure for Jordan, Minister of State Tobias Lindner issued the following statement today (11 June):
The three‑phase plan presented by US President Biden is currently the best way to achieve a humanitarian pause, obtain the immediate release of all hostages and ensure sufficient humanitarian assistance for the civilian population in Gaza. We call upon all parties – especially Hamas – to accept this plan.
Germany continues to work to support the people in Gaza through intensive crisis diplomacy and comprehensive humanitarian assistance. To this end we are cooperating closely with partners in the region.
Despite all efforts, it is still the case that too little humanitarian assistance is reaching the people in Gaza – not least because distribution is so dangerous. The Israeli Government must ensure secure and unhindered access for humanitarian assistance.
In the longer term there must be a political process that leads to a two‑state solution so that Israelis and Palestinians can live in peace, security and dignity.
Background information:
Minister of State Tobias Lindner will represent the German Government on Tuesday, 11 June at a humanitarian Gaza conference in Jordan, jointly hosted by King Abdullah II of Jordan, Egyptian President Al‑Sisi and UN Secretary-General Guterres.
Since 2023, the German Government has made available a total of 294 million euro in humanitarian assistance for the Palestinian territories and will continue to work to bring about an improvement to the situation on the ground within the context of intensive crisis diplomacy.
