The Federal Foreign Office on the ECJ judgment relating to the EU trade agreements with Morocco
A Federal Foreign Office Spokesperson issued the following statement today (7 October 2024) on the ECJ judgment relating to the EU trade agreements with Morocco:
We take note of the judgment by the European Court of Justice (ECJ) dated 4 October 2024, relating to the EU-Morocco trade agreements regarding fisheries and agricultural products, and respect the institution’s independence.
We place great importance on the “strategic, multidimensional and privileged partnership” between the EU and Morocco. Bilaterally, we intensified our relations with Morocco this June with the latest of the regular Strategic Dialogues chaired by our respective Foreign Ministers.
The EU and Morocco enjoy long-standing and broad-based relations that they intend to further deepen. The EU reiterated this on Friday in a Joint Statement by the European Commission President, Ursula von der Leyen, and the High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell.
